Shiva has always had a passion for animals. An interest in nutrition arose from her first cat, Ollie (pictured), who she adopted as a teenager. Ollie was a fussy Persian Chinchilla who refused anything but a diet of exclusively chicken and fish. The diet was the result of poor advice from the former owner which had been maintained until intervention was no longer possible. This led to later health problems and the importance of nutrition was something she has wanted to share with others ever since.
Shiva pursued the interest in animal nutrition as a specialisation in her bachelor and masters degrees. At the end of the study, she found that there were no suitably qualified businesses providing dietary advice on small companion animals. This has led to the founding of Sydney Animal Nutrition.
